New Gorillaz

Gorillaz have a new album dropping on March 9 titled Plastic Beach. This is the follow up album to their very successful album Demon Days released way back in 2005. Here is one of the first leaked tracks off it "Superfast Jellyfish" and a Alex Metric remix of another track "Stylo".

I forgot how much I enjoyed The Good the Bad and the Ugly until I came across Bandini's Remix of Ennio Morricone's - L'Estesi Dell'Oro (The Ectasy of Gold) on hypem.com courtesy of popgoestheradio.
Originally released in Italy, it is a classic Clint Eastwood western directed by Sergio Leone and is the 3rd and final film in The Dollars Trilogy. If you haven't seen the movie don't watch the clip above because it is one of the final scenes. You might also recognize the song from a Nike commercial.

Hip Hop/Rap covers by indie artist are far from new and I am pretty certain Ben Folds started the tradition with his cover of Dr. Dre's song "Bitches Ain't Shit". And since then every year or so someone does one that catches, this time it is Anya Marina's cover of T.I.'s song "Whatever You Like". It is what it is so I doubt I will listen to it more than twice but enjoy. Also included are a couple of other popular covers.

Malcolm Gladwell: Beatles...Prodigies or Not?

I came across this video when i was checking out a blog i like Fresh Creation. I have read Malcolm Gladwell's Book "Outliers: The Story of Sucess". He gives a fresh perspective on the way our culture works. In this video the best-selling author uses The Beatles as an example to question the existence of genuine musical prodigies. He attributes a large measure of the band's success to the experience they gained while playing as the house band for a strip club in Hamburg, Germany. Weather you think they are prodigies or not, they are no doubt one of the greatest bands of all time.
